The district also uses biodiesel where electric alternatives are impractical.<br /><br />Fort Lauderdale shared initiatives including renovating its maintenance facility, introducing hybrid police vehicles, and using telematics to coordinate city and county emergency-response assets. The hybrids have delivered substantially better fuel economy and far fewer engine hours than conventional patrol vehicles. The city also stressed right-sizing vehicles based on job requirements and planning purchases ahead of supply constraints.<br /><br />Across the presentations, speakers emphasized practical steps: prioritize high-value projects, use data to guide decisions, match technology to duty cycles, and build organizational support through education and measurable wins.
